On August 2, 1992, Jackie Joyner-Kersee became the first woman to ever win the gold medals in the heptathlon in two consecutive Olympic games. Kersee won the gold medal at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul and in 1992 in Barcelona. Kersee still holds the world record for heptathlon points at 7,291.
