Ohio Bans Transgender Athletes From Girls Teams

Ohio is the latest state to ban transgender athletes from joining, participating and competing on girl sports teams in high school and college.

Ohio has become the 24th state to pass some sort of Fairness in Women’s Sports Act and the 22nd state to ban gender transitions among minors.

The other states included in the Fairness in Women’s Sports Act are: Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, Arizona, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida.

This decision overrides the Governors veto of banning transgender in women’s sports.

Women’s sports activist Riley Gaines said, “This means there are 26 more states that do need to protect women’s sports and will certainly be a big push of mine in this next legislative cycle.”

Gaines has been fighting on behalf of all women’s sports for years and hosts her podcast Gaines for Girls.
