The 2024 Major League Baseball National League Wild Card Series wrapped up last night with a ninth inning comeback giving the New York Mets a 4-2 win over the NL Central Champs Milwaukee Brewers, sending New York to the National League Division Series.
Trailing 2-0 in the top of the ninth , Mets star Pete Alonso came to the plate with two on and one out facing the Brewers' All-Star closer Devin Williams. Alonso delivered the big blow giving New York a 3-2 lead. Several batters later the Mets tacked on an insurance run to go into the bottom of the ninth with a 4-2 lead. David Patterson pitched the ninth to clinch the
series for New York.
