Although it currently isn’t clear what caused the outages with AT&T (and Cricket Wireless, owned by AT&T), they are reassuring customers they have been working on the issue since around 4 a.m. ET.
Most issues were reported in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston and Los Angeles. At one point nearly 72,000 customers were effected, but AT&T reports they have that number down to under 20,000 as of 1 p.m. ET.
They said calls over Wi-Fi appear to be operational.
They are continuing to work on the issue and hope to have all service restored soon.
