National Wear Red Day

The American Heart Association’s encourages everyone to wear red today, National Wear Red Day/Go Red for Women. February is American Heart Month. National Wear Red Day started in 2002 and Go Red for Women began in 2004.


One initiative is Go Red for Women whose goals are to raise awareness about women’s heart health, learn about risk factors and to celebrate survivors. The CDC says 1 in 5 women die from heart related issues and is the leading cause of death in women.


Heart disease is the leading cause of death in men as well, killing 1 in every 4.
