MLB Update

Here's the happenings in Major League Baseball...


-  Philadelphia Phillies are ending their famous and crowd favorite promotion: $1 hot dog nights during the month of April. The fans consider it among the best ballpark promotions. They have decided to end the promotion because fans began throwing them onto the field during a game last year. The Phillies will be replacing it with a 2-for1 deal at just two April games.


-  Boston Red Sox have signed first baseman C.J. Cron to a minor league deal with an invitation to spring training. The deal also has an opt-out clause he can exercise before Opening Day if he's not making the major league roster or a guaranteed major league deal comes along.


-  New York Yankees have claimed infielder Jahmai Jones off waivers from the Milwaukee Brewers. They have designated infielder Jordan Groshans for assignment.


-  Baltimore Orioles have signed right-hander Julio Teheran to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. Teheran will make $2 million if he makes the big league roster and will receive a 100,000 signing bonus.


- Baltimore Orioles have signed second baseman Kolten Wong to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.


-  Chicago Cubs have signed first baseman Garrett Cooper to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
