Milley Delayed National Guard On January 6th

Senior legal advisor to Major General William J.Walker, Colonel Earl G. Matthews, has blamed former Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman General Mark Milley for letting the protests on January 6th get out of control. Major General Walker commanded the Washington D.C. National Guard that day.

Mathews said...

"The problem was not with Donald Trump; it's Mark Milley and the Army leadership in control. They stopped the Guard from coming then lied about it and said the Guard acted at sprint speed."

"Milley controlled the Army. He leveraged his profound influence and contacts at the Pentagon to delay the Guard's response."

"Milley was manipulating this entire stuff from point start."

"This is about civilian control of the military. There was none. There is none. I argue that Mark Milley had more control over D.C. Guard on Jan 6 than Donald Trump did. If Donald Trump wanted to call the Guard to go to the Capital, Milley wouldn't let him do it."

Major General Walker testified that he asked the Army leadership to authorize the deployment of the Guard as soon as Chief of U.S. Capitol Police Steven Sund requested it, but he was kept waiting for three hours and 19 minutes.

Sund also requested more Capitol police in the days leading up to January 6th, but Pelosi declined that request as well.

President Donald Trump had authorized them to use up to 20,000 National Guard troops, but Nancy Pelosi and D.C. Mayor Bowser declined. Now we know that General Milley was also involved in the delayed deployment of the Guard.
