Ohio’s Governor Mike DeWine has appointed Lt. Governor Jon Husted to replace JD Vance’s vacant U.S. Senate seat. After months of interviewing candidates, DeWine chose his second in command.
DeWine said, “I wanted someone who knew Ohio… I wanted someone with a firm grasp and understanding of the complexity of Ohio.” He added, “Serious times demand serious people.”
Husted was raised in Ohio and has been in politics for over two decades. Husted served in the Ohio Senate as well as serving as Speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives and Ohio Secretary of State. Husted oversees the Ohio Common Sense Initiative (CSI) and serves as the Director of both the Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation and InnovateOhio.
