Mid-Atlantic Wildfires

Updated: Mar 22

Thousands of acres and dozens of brush fires are spreading throughout the Mid-Atlantic from Maryland to North Carolina, including West Virginia and Washington D.C.  Gusty winds and low, dry humidity are contributing to the fires spreading.

Evacuations have been ordered in Virginia’s Shenandoah National Park, parts of the Appalachian Trail have been closed and neighboring communities are asked to evacuate as well.

Little to none of the fires have been contained thus far but hopes that a storm system expected to come across the area tomorrow/this weekend could bring soaking rains and relief to the region.
