Toronto Maple Leafs star Austin Matthews became the quickest American born NHLer to score 50 goals in a season. He did it in 54 games.
Matthews broke the previous record of 62 games he (2021-22) and Kevin Stevens (1992-93) shared.
Matthews also became one of just four active players to have multiple 50 goal seasons joining Alex Ovechkin, Leon Draisaitl, and Steven Stamkos.
The 26 year old is also the only player so far this season to reach 40 goals.
