Actor Matthew Perry, passed away on October 28th at the age of 54, was best known for his role of Chandler Bing on the hit comedy series, Friends.
According to the toxicology report from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office, his cause of death was from” the acute effects of ketamine,” and ruled an accident. Other conditions contributing in his death were drowning, coronary artery disease and buprenorphine effects, which is a drug used to treat opioid use disorder.
Prior to his death, Perry had been undergoing ketamine infusion therapy for anxiety and depression.
The autopsy stated, “At the high levels of ketamine found in his postmortem blood specimens, the main lethal effects would be from both cardiovascular overstimulation and respiratory depression…Drowning contributes due to the likelihood of submersion into the pool as he lapsed into unconsciousness.”
The autopsy also noted there weren’t pills, drugs or other medications found near the scene of death and Perry didn’t have alcohol, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, or fentanyl in his system.
