Manhunt For Teenage Shooter In Times Square

Police are searching for 15-year-old teen, Jesus Alejandro Rivas-Figueroa, who is considered armed and dangerous after he opened fire in Times Square last night. Figueroa shot a woman in her leg, aiming toward the security guard and opened fire at the police officer that was in pursuit of him. The woman was in stable condition, treated and has been released from the hospital.

Figueroa is believed to be an illegal migrant from Venezuela and is wanted for attempted murder on a police officer.

Two additional teens, one, also 15 and the other 16, were said to have entered JD Sports around 7 p.m. and were stealing merchandise but were confronted by the security guard. The two teens are in custody.

Figueroa is also a wanted suspect from an armed robbery on January 27th in the Bronx and a shots fired incident near a mid-town park.

The shell cases will be tested to confirm if they match the two other incidents.

NYPD Chief of Patrol John Chell said in a press conference, “He entered our country in September. He is considered armed and dangerous. He’s 15 years old. He’s in possession of a .40 caliber handgun that he had no problems firing into a crowd of a store, striking a tourist. Not shooting at our cops once, shooting at them twice… Our cop showed great restraint not to fire their weapon into crowded New Yorkers.”

No injuries of officers are reported.

NYPD is asking for help in finding Figueroa and anyone who has any info or tips to call 1-800-557-TIPS (8477) or DM on X @NYPDTips. There is a reward up to $13,500.
