Manhunt Continues For Interstate Shooter in Kentucky

A manhunt continues after a three-day search for suspected Interstate highway shooter, Joseph A. Couch, 32, a former Army Reservist suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder..

Authorities describe Couch as “armed and dangerous” after opening fire and mass shooting on Interstate 75 in southeastern Kentucky. Couch went on a shooting spree after he texted a woman 30 minutes earlier. The texts read, in part,” I’m going to kill a lot of people. Well at least try… I’ll kill myself afterwards…”

About 5:30 p.m., on September 7, Couch is said to have shot into 12 vehicles passing by exit 49 on I-75 near the small city of London. The five people wounded include, Janet Booth, Norma Liberia, Rebecca Puyear, Erick Tavin and Renee Walker.

Once in custody, Couch will be charged with five counts of attempted murder and five counts of first-degree assault in an arrest warrant, and could also face other charges in connection with the other drivers affected by the shooting, such as property damage and wanton endangerment.

Authorities are searching hilly areas, which make it more difficult and frustrating.

School districts in the area are asking students to remain home until further notice.

A $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to Couch’s capture.
