A 7.0 magnitude earthquake shook Northern California Thursday morning at 10:44 a.m. PT about 40 miles off the coast of Petrolia, in Humboldt County. There were at least 93 aftershocks and some registered over 4.0.
The earthquake is reported to have been a very shallow at roughly 8 miles deep into the Pacific Ocean, but was felt inland in parts of northern California and southern Oregon.
Nearly 5 million people between northern California and southern Oregon were under a brief tsunami warning, but it was canceled after about an hour. Waves did reach a height of 5 feet in some areas.
Some 10,000 people lost power, but no deaths or injuries have been reported.
