LSU Fined by SEC

LSU has been fined $100,000 by the Southeastern Conference (SEC) because fans of the Tigers' men's basketball team ran onto the court after the Tigers upset victory over #17 ranked Kentucky Wildcats, 75-74 on Wednesday night.

The school was fined under SEC's revised access competition area policy. The policy states access to playing surfaces are limited to athletes, coaches, officials, support personnel and properly credentialed or authorized individuals at all times.

"For the safety of participants and spectators alike, at no time before, during or after a contest may spectators enter the competition area," the policy states.

*** For the first offense the fine is $100,000. For the second offense it will be $250,000, and $500,000 for the third and subsequent offenses.
