Heading into this NBA season, the National Basketball Association created an in-season tournament and debuted its NBA Cup.
On Saturday night the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Indiana Pacers 123-109 to win the inaugural in-season tournament to earn the first NBA Cup.
Anthony Davis dominated the final for the Lakers with 41 points, 20 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocked shots. Autin Reaves added 28 points and Lebron James had 24 points and 11 rebounds.
Tyrese Haliburton led the Pacers with 20 points and 11 assists. Bennedict Mathurin added 20 points and Obi Toppin had 13 points.
Lebron James won the NBA In-Season Tournament MVP Award.
Lakers players on standard contracts will receive $500,000 in award money for the win, and the Pacers players will get $200,000.
