Kia Recalls Over 460,000 SUVs

On Friday, Kia announced a recall for its Telluride SUVs. Owners were given a warning that models 2020-2024 should be parked outside and away from other vehicles and structures because of an apparent fire risk.

The "park outside" recall was issued for over 462,869 vehicles.

A notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) states the front power seat motor can easily overheat due to a stuck power seat slide knob, which can cause the vehicle to catch fire.

According to the NHTSA, the recall will affect certain vehicles manufactured from January 9th, 2019 through May 29th, 2024.

Notification letters will be sent to owners by July 30th, 2024. Owners can contact KIA customer service at 800-333-4542 and mention recall number SC316.

Kia dealers will be installing a bracket for the power seat switch back covers, and they will also replace the seat slide knobs at no cost.
