Judge Juan Merchan has approved President Donald Trump's request to have his sentencing moved from July 11th to a later date. Merchan has changed the date to September 18th.
After Monday's Supreme Court's ruling on "presidential immunity," Trump's lawyers made the request to delay sentencing so they can submit a motion to set aside the verdict based on the Supreme Court ruling. They would like to have until July 10th to submit a memorandum of law in support of such a motion.
District Attorney Alvin Bragg's office in Manhattan submitted a letter to Judge Merchan that he would not be opposed to delaying Trump's sentencing. They requested an additional two weeks after the Trump team submits their motion to file a response. Their response would be submitted by July 24th.
