Jontay Porter Pleads Guilty in Gambling Scandal

On Wednesday, former NBA player Jontay Porter pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud in a federal criminal case tied to the betting scandal that got him banned from the NBA earlier this year.

Porter entered the plea at his arraignment in a New York federal court and was set to be released on a $250,000 bond.

According to court documents, Porter's case is related to an ongoing prosecution of four men charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and scheming to profit off tips from an NBA player. They have not yet entered pleas.

Porter will be sentenced on December 18th. He could face about three and a half years and up to a little over four years in prison. He is also likely to be assessed hundreds of thousands of dollars in restitution, plus additional fines.
