Hurricane Milton Aftermath

Making landfall as a Category 3 strength storm, Hurricane Milton struck Florida’s western gulf coast at 8:30 p.m. near Siesta Key.

Milton took the lives of at least 17 people after hurricane winds, tornadoes and floods devastated Florida, only two weeks after the destruction of Hurricane Helene. Nearly half a million customers are still without power; schools are still closed, as many served as hurricane shelters for those in mandatory evacuation zones.

Significant rain left 18.31 inches of rain in St. Petersburg, 14.01 inches in Clearwater Beach, 13.09 inches in Baskin and 11.43 inches in Tampa. The storm qualified as a 1-in-1,000 year rainfall event.

The American Red Cross and Project HOPE are a couple platforms to make donations to.
