“Hurricane” Lee Update

The once named storm, Hurricane Lee was downgraded to a post-tropical cyclone, brought wind gusts up to 50 mph to Maine and eastern Canada this weekend. More than 300,000 businesses and homes in Maine and eastern Canada were without electricity, but that number has significantly dropped and is below 50,000. Two deaths have been in connection to Lee: one in Florida earlier in the week when rip currents led to 15-year-old swimmer drowning and one in Maine where a fallen tree killed a 51-year-old man inside a car.

Along with the power outages, some areas of New England reported 8-10 foot waves, flash flooding, damaged homes, vehicles and businesses, and toppled trees.
