Chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, James Comer has announced a markup to consider holding Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress for his failure to comply with a subpoena.

The Committee had issued subpoenas to Attorney General Garland on February 27th "for records, including transcripts, notes, video, and audio files, related to Special Counsel Robert Hur's investigation of President Joe Biden's willful mishandling of classified information."
"The House Oversight and Judiciary Committees issued lawful subpoenas to Attorney General Garland for audio recordings of President Biden's interview with Special Counsel Hur, yet he continues to defy our subpoenas," Comer said in a statement.
"These audio recordings are important to our investigation of President Biden's willful retention of classified documents and his fitness to be President of the United States. There must be consequences for refusing to comply with lawful congressional subpoenas and we will move to hold Attorney General Garland in contempt of Congress," Comer continued.
This corrupt regime continues to do what it wants without concern for consequences. They weaponized the Justice Department to go after its political rivals and jail them. President Trump's administration officials have been charged with contempt of Congress for not testifying in response to committee subpoenas and Peter Navarro is in jail for four months even though he was working with the committee to resolve the Presidential immunity that Trump invoked. The left didn't care. They wanted the image of Trump officials being arrested and jailed. Steven K. Bannon was found guilty also for the same "crime" and awaiting sentencing. He'll be jailed also, yet Garland and other Biden officials can ignore subpoenas and court rulings and do what they want without any consequences. Several Obama era officials also ignored Congressional subpoenas in the past and not one has ever been charged or arrested.
