More than two-dozen staff members have been fired after their involvement in anti-Israel protests that took over corporate offices in New York and California after a 10-hour sit-in.
Some of the employees took part in protest against the company’s cloud contract with the Israeli government, “Project Nimbus,” which is a $1.2 billion contract to provide the Israeli government with AI and cloud services.
Demonstrators who refused to leave Google’s premises were removed forcibly by law enforcement and arrested.
Google’s Vice President of Global Security, Chris Rackow, wrote in a memo to employees about the protesters, “They took over office spaces, defaced our property, and physically impeded the work of other Googlers…Their behavior was unacceptable, extremely disruptive, and made co-workers feel threatened.”
Google also denied that “Project Nimbus” is assisting Israel with weapons or intelligence services.
