Germán's Perfect Night!

Updated: Aug 4, 2023

New York Yankees starting pitcher Domingo Germán became just the 24th pitcher to throw a perfect game in MLB history when the New York Yankees routed the Oakland Athletics 11-0 on Wednesday night. He threw 99 pitches and had 9k's in his performance.

He was the 1st pitcher to throw a perfect game in the MLB since Seattle Mariners pitcher Felix Hernandez did it in 2012 and the 1st Yankee since David Cone in 1999.

He became just the 4th Yankee pitcher to accomplish the feat joining Don Larsen (1956 World Series), David Wells in 1998, and David Cone in 1999.

He was also the 1st pitcher in MLB history to record a perfect game after giving up 10 or more runs in his previous start.

"So exciting when you think about something very unique in baseball. Not many people have an opportunity to pitch a perfect game. To accomplish something like this in my career is something I'm going to remember forever." Germán said.
