Fugitives Found In Idaho

After a massive manhunt in Idaho, police have captured escaped prisoner Skylar Meade and his accomplice Nicholas Umphenour 36 hours after the ambush they planned.

The duo was seized in more than 100 miles away in Twin Falls, Idaho after a short pursuit. There were no shots fired and or extensive use of force in the operation. They were in a stolen car, and the owner of the car was found dead on Wednesday night. In another county, a second murder victim was found. After finding, the shackles at the scene of one of the homicides, police believe both murders are connected to Meade and Umphenour.

Meade was serving a 20-year sentence for aggravated assault with a firearm enhancement on a law enforcement officer and wasn’t set to be released until 2036. Meade injured himself badly enough in prison to where medical staff determined he be taken to an emergency room about a mile away. When officers were attempting to transfer him back to prison, after treatment, Umphenour, an accomplice, was outside the hospital, ambushed the officers and shot at them allowing Meade time to get into the vehicle he was driving.

Meade and Umphenour met in prison and were members of the Aryan Knights, a white supremacist/violent gang. Umphenour had just been released from prison in January.

The three officers shot are expected to have full recoveries and the two suspects are now behind bars facing additional charges.

The investigation in the two murders while the duo were on the run is underway.
