Four people have been arrested on insurance fraud and conspiracy allegations after claiming a bear damaged their luxury vehicles in Los Angeles, California.
Claims for a 2010 Rolls-Royce Ghost, a 2015 Mercedes G63 and a 2022 Mercedes E350 were filed by Ararat Chirkinian, 39; Vahe Muradkhanyan, 32; Ruben Tamrazian, 26; and Alfiya Zuckerman, 39.
The group went as far as submitting a video showing the alleged bear entering the vehicle, but, “upon further scrutiny of the video, the investigation determined the bear was actually a person in a bear costume,” said the insurance department.
Being scepticle of the video, investigators were issued a search warrant and a bear costume was found on premises.
The scam totaled $141,839 to the insurance companies.
