Former President Bush To Throw 1st Pitch In 2024 World Series

Former President, and former Texas Rangers owner, George W. Bush will throw out the ceremonial first pitch in the 2024 World Series opener tonight.

The Texas Rangers will face the Arizona Diamondbacks for game 1 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

Although this will be Bush’s 4th World Series 1st pitch appearance, it is the first time he will throw out the first pitch at the start of an entire series.

Bush’s most famous, and his first ever-ceremonial first pitch, was in Yankee Stadium for Game 3 of the 2001 World Series, which was almost immediately following the terrorist attacks of 9/11. Bush came out wearing an FDNY shirt over a bulletproof vest. Bush recalled Derek Jeter telling him, “Don’t bounce it, they will boo you.”

Bush also threw out the first ceremonial pitch, with his father and former President, George H.W. Bush at Game 4 of the 2010 World Series in Arlington, TX and in Game 5 of the 2017 World Series in Houston, TX.

Hall of Famer, Ivan Rodriguez, former catcher for the Rangers will be behind the plate to catch Bush’s pitch.
