As Hurricane Helene makes its way up the Gulf of Mexico, all north and west coast residents of Florida are preparing and evacuating. Shelters have been opened for evacuated residents.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) warned, “A catastrophic and deadly storm surge is likely along portions of the Florida Big Bend coast, where inundation could reach as high as 20 feet above ground level, along with destructive waves.”
Flights and cruises have been disrupted along with major theme parks.
Nearly 21,000 utility workers have arrived in Florida to assist with power outages that are expected. Some 3,750 Florida National Guard and Florida State Guards are also ready to assist with search and rescue.
