Florida prosecutors have now officially charged Ryan Wesley Routh with attempted assassination over his failed attempt to assassinate President Donald Trump at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida on September 15th, 2024.
The original charges Routh faced were one count of obliteration of a firearm's serial number, and one count of possessing a firearm while being a convicted felon. The new charges now include attempted assassination possessing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence, and assaulting a federal officer.
Routh is expected to be arraigned on Monday.
Judge Aileen Cannon was randomly assigned the case.
