Florida Bracing for Another Hurricane within Two Weeks

The west coast of Florida is bracing for Hurricane Milton; the second major hurricane to come around the area within the last two weeks.

Florida has not even recovered from Hurricane Helene that came up the Gulf of Mexico on Thursday, September 26 which caused flooding and major destruction on the west and north coasts of the state.

Milton currently has strengthened to a category 5 hurricane with winds at 160 mph. It is moving east-southeast slowly. Weather experts are predicting it to degrade somewhat as it moves toward the northeast.

The spaghetti models aren’t confirmed yet, but it predicted to come across the west coast of Florida sometime late Wednesday.

There’s potential of life-threatening storm surge, flooding rain and destructive winds. Several mandatory evacuation orders have already been placed for low-lying areas and for mobile/modular homes.

Florida Governor Ron De Santis has declared another State of Emergency for 51 of the 67 counties in the state. He has also order landfills to remain open 24/7 until it is safe to do so, in hopes to get as much debris removed from millions of homes that still remain from Hurricane Helene.

Most counties schools are already closed and are preparing to serve as evacuation centers.

Milton is currently located more than 730 miles southwest of Tampa, Florida.
