Local law enforcement and university campus police have called in the FBI to investigate a series of anti-Semitic threats on social media at Cornell University over this weekend.
On a site, not affiliated with the university specifically, many students use to rate fraternities and sororities, Greekrank, posts of anti-Semitism statements and threats to “shoot up 104 West” were written. The 104 West building is the center for Jewish living, houses the kosher dining hall and is a multi-cultural center at the university.
Some posts read, “ If I see a pig male Jew I will stab you and slit your throat. If I see another pig female Jew I will drag you away and rape you and throw you off a cliff. If i see another pig baby Jew I will behead you in front of your parents.”
Pseudonyms including, “Hamas,” “Jew evil, “Jew genocide,” “Hamas warrior,” and “kill Jews.” Some titles of the posts were, “Jewish people need to be killed,” “eliminate Jewish living from Cornell campus.”
Cornell University President, Martha Pollack said, “We will not tolerate antisemitism at Cornell. The virulence and destructiveness of antisemitism is real and deeply impacting our Jewish students, faculty and staff, as well as the entire Cornell community. This incident highlights the need to combat the forces that are dividing us and driving us toward hate. This cannot be what defines us at Cornell.” Pollack also warned that those committing such threats will be “punished to the full extent of the law.”
Attorney General of New York, Latitia James said on X, formerly know as Twitter, “These threats targeting Jewish students at Cornell are absolutely horrific. There is no space for antisemitism or violence of any kind. Campuses must remain safe spaces for our students.” The university will have heightened security.
