e.l.f. Cosmetics Lawsuit

The e. l. f. cosmetic company is facing a class action lawsuit that’s alleging it’s falsely marketing their products, for deceptively selling its lip gloss and exfoliating products in oversized containers that don’t reasonably inform consumers that they are up to 50% empty.

The class action alleges that consumers are being duped to pay premium prices for empty space.

On February 25th Geneva Gonzales filed in a California federal court, alleging violations of state consumer laws.

Gonzales claims the e. l. f. cosmetics markets the products in a “systematically misleading manner” by presenting the products as being adequately filled when, in fact, they contain an unlawful amount of empty space or a non-functional slack-fill that deceives consumers into purchasing the products over its competitors' products.

Gonzales is demanding a jury trial and is requesting declaratory and injunctive relief to award compensatory and punitive damages for herself and all class members.
