Just days after Joel Embiid set this season's scoring high, Dallas Mavericks phenom Luka Doncic erupted for 73 points setting a new NBA single game scoring record for this season.
It is tied for the fourth highest single season scoring output in league history.
Doncic's 73 points was not only a career high, but a Dallas Mavericks franchise record. He broke the record of 60 points that he set back in December of 2022 against the New York Knicks when he had 60 points, 21 rebounds, and 10 assists.
Doncic became the first player in NBA history to score 70 points, have 10 rebounds, and 7 assists in a game.
For the second time this week, two players scored over 60 points on the same day. On Monday, Embiid and Karl-Anthony Towns accomplished the feat. On Friday, Doncic dropped a record 73 points in the Mavericks148-143 win over the Atlanta Hawks and Devin Booker put up 62 points against the Indiana Pacers. It was just the fifth time in NBA history that two players scored 60 or more points on the same day.
