Donaldson Retires After 13 Seasons

Former American League MVP and "Bringer of Rain," Josh Donaldson, has announced his retirement after 13 major league seasons on Monday.

After getting married and spending time with his family in the offseason, Donaldson leaned towards retirement, deciding it would have to be the perfect situation to play this year.

Despite receiving opportunities to play this season, he decided to call it quits.

"Today is a sad but also happy day for me.... It's sad because I'll not be able to go out there and play the game that I love anymore, but it's also a very happy time that I get to be around the family, and kind of take that next chapter in life," Donaldson said.

Donaldson's career stat line over 1,383 games with the Toronto Blue Jays, Oakland A's, New York Yankees,  Milwaukee Brewers, Cleveland Indians (Guardians), Atlanta Braves and Minnesota Twins...

.261 Average,  1,310 hits, 279 home runs,  816 RBI's
