Denny’s, the popular diner style chain, will be closing 150 “underperforming restaurants” within the next year. By the end of 2024, 50 restaurants are expected to close and the remaining 100 restaurants will close in 2025.
The locations closing are either unprofitable or too old to be remodeled said Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer, Steve Dunn.
The 71-year-old chain, once know for its 24/7 - ‘never closing its doors’ changed severely since the pandemic and more than 25% changed their operating hours.
Denny’s has also cut the number of menu options from 97 down to 46 items.
Denny’s stock has also dropped 50% for the year.
