Flood warnings are still in effect across the Midwest and are expected to continue through this week.
At least two people have died in Iowa and South Dakota as a result of the storms.
Yesterday, flooding in Iowa led to road closures and forced residents to evacuate their homes and seek higher ground. A railroad bridge connecting Iowa to South Dakota was destroyed when water levels reached 45 feet. Rivers and streams overflowed due to the torrential rain.
President Biden approved a major disaster declaration for several counties in Iowa allowing residents and businesses to apply for aid from FEMA.
Flooding also caused a partial failure of a dam in Minnesota.
The National Weather Service is predicting more than 2-dozen points of major flooding in Northern Iowa, Southern Minnesota and Eastern South Dakota.
Rivers and streams across the Midwest continue to have flood warnings including: Big Sioux River, Cedar River, Des Moines River, Little Sioux River, Missouri River and Rock River.
Flood warnings will remain in effect until further notice.
