Cole Update

New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole has been diagnosed with nerve irritation and edema in his elbow.

Cole won't throw a ball for three to four weeks. PRP injections are not scheduled at this point and he'll rely on rest and recovery. He will be keeping his arm active with plyo exercises.

"Three to four weeks no throw, and we'll go from there. I think we determined that we just got a little hot a little too quick this spring," Cole said.

Cole won the Cy Young Award last season going 15-4 with a 2.63 ERA, 222 K's over 209 innings.

The Yankees have already announced that left-hander Nestor Cortes will replace Cole as their Opening Day starter.
