Chicago’s O’Hare Airport Housing Migrants

With the wind chill in Chicago at -32°, migrants are flooding into the O’Hare airport for shelter. As of Friday, there were about 263 migrants in the airport; an additional 141 in the landing zone (the area where busses enter the city), and the shelters are housing 14,574 migrants.

Many were slated be moved to, what they are calling, “warming busses.” These are normal busses, not fit for living and migrants staying in them aren’t getting hygiene or food resources.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson said, “It’s totally not acceptable for the Governor to continue to send the city of Chicago…Make no mistake about it this is an international crisis that requires federal intervention of which local government is subsidizing that work.”
