Challenge to Save Lives from Overdose

The Biden administration launched a new initiative, the “Challenge to Save Lives from Overdose” on Wednesday. This initiative is a nationwide call to increase access to Nalaxone, an opioid drug overdose reversal treatment.

The initiative is encouraging organizations and businesses, no matter its size or if it’s in a public or private sector, to train employees how to use and administer the drug, keep in their first aid and emergency kits and distribute it to either employees or customers if needed.

Studies showed that people can administer the nasal spray form of the drug easily and don’t need to have a medical background to do so if they go through the minimal training.

The initiative is attempting to save lives after 111 thousand people died in a one-year time frame of a drug overdose.
