Cardinals Unveil New City Connect Uni's

Updated: May 26

The St. Louis Cardinals have become the sixth MLB team to unveil City Connect uniforms this season.

The new red uniform keeps the iconic Cardinals' "birds on the bat" logo that has been used for decades, but uses "The Lou" for the team nickname. It includes wavy dark red pinstripes to represent the muddy waters of the Mississippi River. A thick red pinstripe will be on white pants.

A new logo will feature a fleur-de-lis and the city's iconic Gateway Arch will be on the arm and the year 1882 will be written inside the back collar to honor the franchise's founding. The team will use an all red hat featuring  "STL" in block letters in a font from the team's 1921 uniforms.

"The St. Louis Cardinals jersey is one of the most iconic in all sports, and we are proud to introduce our new City Connect uniform to build on that legacy. A great deal of thought went into the design, and I believe our fans will appreciate the many uniform elements that were inspired by the organization's 140-plus years in St. Louis," Cardinals President Bill Dewitt III said in a statement.

The team plans to wear their City Connects uniforms 12 times this season. They will premiere them on Friday May 24th versus the Chicago Cubs.

*** Three more teams plan to release a City Connect uniform this season. The Toronto Blue Jays, Minnesota Twins and the Los Angeles Dodgers. All plan to unveil their alternate looks before the end of June.
