Since Tuesday, January 7, the Palisades Fire has now scorched through 17, 234 acres with 0% containment. There haven’t been any fatalities reported in the Pacific Palisades area.
The Eaton Fire has burned through 10,600 acres and has 0% containment. There have now been 5 deaths reported in the Altadena/Pasadena area.
Between both the Palisades Fire and the Eaton Fire, over 2,000 structures have been damaged or destroyed.
The Hurst Fire has now spread through 855 acres and has 10% containment. No deaths are reported in the Sylmar area.
The Woodley Fire is also at 0% containment and between 30-75 acres are burning.
The latest fires, Lidia and Sunset Fires have broken out. The Lidia Fire has 348 acres burning and has 40% containment in the Acton area. The Sunset Fire, which started shortly before 6 p.m., January 8 has burned through 60 acres with 0% containment.
Wind gusts have dropped from 75-100 mph to 40-50 mph today and 50-70 mph tonight. Helicopters and fixed wing aircrafts are able to assist today.Â
Over 350,000 customers are without power, and nearly 180,000 are under mandatory evacuation.
The cause of the fires will be under investigation.
