At 12:45 a.m. police responded to calls of a gunman on the Metro bus in Los Angeles. It is reported the suspect pulled out a gun and shot and killed a victim after a dispute, then hijacked the bus forcing the driver to continue driving at gunpoint. The victim, a male, had multiple gunshot wounds; police on scene tried giving CPR, but he later on died at the hospital. The bus driver and another passenger were not injured.
Authorities were led on an hour-long chase through the city, but were able to finally stop the bus with metal spikes and (the SWAT team) deployed flash bangs and apprehended the suspect.
Officers were able to locate, track and follow the bus due to the bus driver hitting the “panic button,” which displays message boards on the outside of the bus that say, “EMERGENCY 911 CALL POLICE.”
