Brunson Gives Knicks Discount On Extension

New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson gave the team a $113 million discount to help give them financial flexibility to build its roster around the 27 year old.

Brunson signed a 4 year, $156.5 million contract extension.  The deal includes a player option for the final year of the extension worth $43 million in 2028-29.

If Brunson waited to sign when he became a free agent, he could have signed a max deal with the Knicks paying him over $61 million in a final year of 2029-30.

Brunson is coming off a season with a career high 28.7 points per game over 77 starts.
