King Charles III got a first look at the British banknotes that will bear his portrait. The four denominations of banknotes, printed on polymer, which will be in circulation with King Charles’ face, are £5, £10, £20, and £50.
The first time a monarch was featured on the British banknotes was Queen Elizabeth II in 1960. Unlike his mother, Charles isn’t wearing a crown.
The King was already featured on coins in December 2022 and on stamps in March 2023. The new banknotes will begin to enter circulation on June 5th.
