Tuesday, the Senate has confirmed Pam Bondi as the new United States Attorney General. In a vote of 54-46, Bondi solidified the position.
Democratic Senator John Fetterman ended up joining all 53 Republicans when he voted for Bondi.
Chuck Grassley, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman said, “Pam Bondi’s confirmation is a victory for the rule of law and a promise that safer days are ahead. Ms. Bondi is a career prosecutor who’s dedicated her professional career to pursuing justice. As Florida’s Attorney General, she didn’t shy away from hard work or complicated problems. I expect her to take the same tough, unbiased approach as a U.S. Attorney General.”
Bondi has officially been sworn in on Wednesday, February 5. At the ceremony, Bondi was announced by and in the company of President Trump and he said, “The role of Attorney General comes with immense responsibility but I have absolute confidence that Pam will fulfill her duties with honor, courage and strength and fairness.”
After Bondi’s husband and mother held the bible she was sworn in with she thanked Trump, saying she wouldn’t let him down, she’d make him and the country proud and stated how honored she was to have been chosen by him. “I will restore integrity to the Justice Department and I will fight violent crime throughout this country and throughout this world and Make America Safe Again.”
