Boar’s Head Provisions Company is recalling over 200,000 pounds of liverwurst and

other deli meat products due to concerns of listeria contamination. Boar’s Head

reported.

Listeria can cause deadly infections and multiple uncomfortable symptoms.

Symptoms can start as early as the same day, and up to 10 weeks after eating

contaminated food, with most occurring within 2 weeks. Symptoms include

confusion, convulsions, diarrhea, fever, headaches, muscle aches, nausea, and loss of

balance, to name a few. Elderly, pregnant women and those with compromised or

weakened immune systems may be at a higher risk. Listeria can usually be treated

with antibiotics.

If you purchased any of the recalled deli meats, you are urged to throw them away

or return to the store for a refund. It is also recommended to clean out your

refrigerators to avoid any cross-contamination with other foods.

If you have concerns about illness, contact your healthcare provider immediately.
