After more than 7 million pounds of Boar’s Head deli meats have been recalled due to listeria
contamination, a third life has been taken and another 10 people have been hospitalized.
A total of 43 people across 13 states have become infected and were hospitalized from the
outbreak in contaminated deli meats. The three people that have died were from Illinois,
New Jersey and in Virginia.
It can take up to 10 weeks for symptoms to begin and they include nausea, vomiting,
diarrhea, fever, confusion, headache, convulsions and loss of balance.
Those with compromised immune systems, pregnant women, young children and elderly
individules are more susceptible to severe symptoms and/or death.

Boar’s Head is already facing two lawsuits over this outbreak, one in a Missouri court and
another is a class action suit in federal court in New York.
If you purchased any of the recalled deli meats, you are urged to throw them away or
return to the store for a refund. It is also recommended to clean out your refrigerators to
avoid any cross-contamination with other foods.
