Blanco Hurls No-Hitter In Just 8th Career Start

Houston Astros right-handed starter Ronel Blanco threw a no-hitter against the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday in just his eighth career start. The Astros pounded the Blue Jays 10-0 at Minute Maid Park in Houston for their first win of the season.

Blanco, makinig only his 25th major league appearance, was the last pitcher added to Houston's Opening Day roster. He came up big in what was a much needed win for the Astros after being swept in their four-game season opening series against the New York Yankees.

Blanco's Stat Line...

0 runs, 0 hits, 7 K's, 2 walks, 9 innings.

"Very excited. I couldn't believe it. And a very happy moment for me. It's all very good, obviously. Always thanking God for his blessing, and I dedicate this game to God and my daughter," Blanco said on the field after the game.

*** This was the 17th no-hitter in franchise history for Houston.

*** This was the 8th time the Blue Jays were no-hit in franchise history.
