In an attempt to sway fleeing voters, the Biden regime announced it is releasing 1 million barrels of gasoline from the Northeast Reserve in hopes of easing gas prices in the Northeast from Memorial Day and the fourth of July.
The reserves will be released in 100,000 barrel increments from storage locations in Maine and New Jersey. These reserves were created a decade ago following Superstorm Sandy.
The area was hit with mass destruction and gas shortages after the storm. They were supposed to be held in reserve in case another mass storm hits the area disrupting gas delivery.
"By strategically releasing this reserve between Memorial Day and July 4th, we are ensuring sufficient supply flows to the tri-state and Northeast at a time, hardworking Americans need it the most," Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm stated.
In other words, they need to try and keep gas prices low over the summer because the election is coming. They don't want the American people to realize their ridiculous green new deal policies and their attacks on the oil/gas industry are the cause for gas prices and don't want you upset before the election.
In 2022 Biden released over 200 million barrels from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve in another political move, reducing reserves to the lowest levels since the 1980's. The Strategic Reserve was meant for emergencies only. The Biden Regime had planned to make a purchase in order to refill the Reserve in April, but they canceled it.
