Biden Flips the Supreme Court the Bird

Once again this Administration shows it will do what it wants whether its lawful or in this case going against a Supreme Court ruling. The Biden Administration announced it will be canceling the debt of over 800,000 barrowers for a total of $39 billion in student debt. Despite the Supreme Courts 6/30/23 ruling several weeks ago that Biden's student loan forgiveness program was unconstitutional they have decided to create another plan to do what they wanted. The Department of Education will be leading the way with this program and said that borrowers that will be eligible for the aid will be notified in the upcoming days.

After the court ruling on June 30th President Biden announced that he will be taking additional steps in order to circumvent the decision and be able to provide the relief. So far the administration has approved more then $116.6 billion in student relief forgiveness since he took office.

Education Secretary Miguel Cardona stated "For far too long, borrowers fell threw the cracks of a broken system that fail to keep accurate track of their progress towards forgiveness. Today, the Biden-Harris Administration is taking another historic step to right these wrongs and announcing $39 billion in debt relief for another 804,000 borrowers. By fixing past administrative failures, we are ensuring everyone gets the forgiveness they deserve, just as we have done for public servants, students who were cheated by their colleges, and borrowers with permanent disabilities, including veterans. This Administration will not stop fighting to level the playing field in higher education."

Just going off of Secretary Cardona's statement you can already see them laying the ground work for how to get around the Supreme Courts ruling by saying things fell threw the cracks, it's a broken system, and inaccurate tracking. All ways to try and skirt the Supreme Courts ruling.
